Nandina (genus domestica), widely used as an ornamental plant is originally native to Eastern Asia. Also known as heavenly bamboo, or sacred bamboo, it's a suckering erect shrub of the Berberidaceae family, the sole member of its variety, that grows up to 6 feet tall. Because of that some pruning is necessary.
Nandina domestica plants have green leaves (old leaves turn red before falling) and white flowers. Its red fruits are poisonous and can be fatal if ingested, they must be handled with extra care and attention.
